Why do people see ghosts?
Scientists have discovered that the human eye has a spooky ability. It can detect "ghost images. These are images that are encoded in random patterns, previously thought only detectable by computer. But in a new paper posted online on the preprint server arXiv, scientists in Scotland at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh and the University of Glasgow have found that the human eye itself can do the required computations. In a regular camera, multiple pixels take in the light from one source, like the sun, to create an image. Ghost images are basically the opposite: They start with multiple light sources in a predictable array, Faccio told Live Science, with the light being collected by a single-point detector, usually called a "bucket.

All of us are ghost magnets and have magnetic properties, said Malaysian ghost researcher Augustine Towonsing. This is because how we see ghosts is limited to our five senses. Towonsing, 49, is founder of Malaysian Ghost Research malaysian-ghost-research. Hence, our bodies are extremely sensitive to any kind of disturbances related to ghostly presence existing in a unique geomagnetic field form. There are also urban legends that people can perform certain acts to see ghosts!
I saw one just after my son was born. My eyes scoured the contours of darkness for shapes, silhouettes. Petrified, I felt a maternal sixth sense alerting me to danger. It took every ounce of reason and self-reassurance to return Gabriel softly to bed and close the door, feeling all the while someone was watching us. I tried to rationalize away the ghost as a manifestation of my anxiety as a new mom. The thought astounded me.
