The Frog Princess by E.D. Baker

Princess Emeralda a.ka. Emma isnt exactly an ideal princess. Her laugh is more like a donkeys bray than tinkling bells, she trips over her own feet and she does not like Prince Jorge, whom her mother hopes she will marry. But if Emma ever thought to escape her troubles, she never expected it to happen by turning into a frog! When convinced to kiss a frog so he might return to being a prince, somehow the spell is reversed and Emma turns into a frog herself! Thus begins their adventure--a quest to return to human form.

Fascinating and hilarious characters ranging from a self-conscious but friendly bat to a surprisingly loyal snake and a wise green witch confirm that readers wont soon forget this madcap story. A fantastic debut from the talented E.D. Baker.

Title: The Princess and the Frog A young maiden in a land called Andalasia, who is prepared to be wed, is sent away to New York City by an evil queen, where she falls in love with a lawyer.

The 49th Disney animated feature film , the film is loosely based on the novel The Frog Princess by E. Set in New Orleans , the film tells the story of a hardworking waitress named Tiana who dreams of owning her own restaurant. After kissing a prince who has been turned into a frog by an evil voodoo sorcerer, Tiana becomes a frog herself and must find a way to turn back into a human before it is too late. It marked Disney's brief return to traditional animation , as it was the mainstream animation studio's first traditionally animated film since Home on the Range. The studio returned to a Broadway musical -style format frequently used during the Disney Renaissance , and features music written by composer Randy Newman , well known for his musical involvement in Pixar films such as A Bug's Life , Monsters, Inc. The film also marked the return of Disney animated musical films based on well-known stories since the Disney Renaissance and similar to The Little Mermaid which that previously made the beginning of the successful renaissance.

CNN -- For the generations who waited years to see an African-American princess enter Disney's line of royals, the movie "Princess and the Frog" has been like love at first sight. The film, featuring Princess Tiana as a determined waitress and chef who gets sidetracked from her entrepreneurial dreams by a smooth-talking frog prince, has been mired in controversy for more than a year. Critics pointed out that Princess Tiana spends most of her time mucking through the movie as a frog. A Charlotte Observer column noted that the film's combination of voodoo and alligator sidekicks in the setting of New Orleans, Louisiana -- a city still trying to heal racial wounds exacerbated by Hurricane Katrina -- was a decision made in poor taste. Those criticisms aren't holding much weight with parents. There's " way more good in it than the negative [aspects] some picky person is going to find," said Denene Millner , an author in Atlanta, Georgia, and mother of three. Instead of criticizing, they view Princess Tiana as the wonderful beginning to more movies, books, television shows and games made with children of color in mind.

The film, which began production under the working title The Frog Princess , is an American fairy tale, Broadway-style musical set in, and around, New Orleans at the height of the Roaring Twenties. The film was both marketed and praised as a return to form for Walt Disney Animation Studios [1] [2] , with various film critics, pundits, and historians crediting The Princess and the Frog as the first film to have ignited what is widely considered to be Disney's new-age renaissance popularly known as the " Disney Revival " era , [3] [4] , as well as the resurgence of critically acclaimed animated fairytales and musicals. The movie opens with a bright star shining in the Louisiana sky. We hear the voice of Tiana singing, telling us that anything is possible if you wish upon the evening star. We are then taken to the very pink and frilly bedroom of young Charlotte La Bouff, who is sitting beside a young Tiana as they listen to Tiana's seamstress mother, Eudora tells the story of the Frog Prince as she puts the finishing touches on a dress for Charlotte. Charlotte is entranced by the story while Tiana is clearly disgusted and vows never to kiss a frog.

There once was a Princess. She was not an ordinary princess, however. This Princess loved to play alone in the palace gardens while she tossed around her favourite beaming golden ball. Now, the problem with playing alone was that no one was ever there to catch the ball if she tossed it too high in the air. One day, as she was running around lilies and daisies and hedges and roses, she tossed her ball higher in the air than she ever had before.

Tiana is a main character who appears in Walt Disney Pictures ' 49th animated feature film The Princess and the Frog Dampier voices the character as a child. Tiana is loosely based on two princesses: Princess Emma, the heroine of E. A hardworking waitress who dreams of opening her own restaurant, Tiana finds her progress stalled when she transforms into a frog after desperately kissing a prince who has been turned into one by an evil witch doctor. Tiana has been mostly positively received, with critics praising her personality and values. However, the depiction of Tiana and her community has been criticized for lacking "emphasis on racial issues".
