Where Did AIDS Come From? by Anna Forbes
History of AIDS
Presently HIV infections were identified in districts spread all over India including forest areas. Data from sentinel surveillance and national family health survey III in year revealed that Medical, archaeological, mythological, biological evidences point out the possibility of origin of AIDS in Indian sub continent. The man and monkey association started in India by Paleolithic period. We can find monkey paintings in various historic sites in Hindu, Buddhist literature. Monkey Gods are very common all over India, tribal and rural people built monkey god temples and preached.
HIV-1 is more virulent, more easily transmitted and is the cause of the vast majority of HIV infections globally. Scientists generally accept that the known strains or groups of HIV-1 are most closely related to the simian immunodeficiency viruses SIVs endemic in wild ape populations of West Central African forests. Using HIV-1 sequences preserved in human biological samples along with estimates of viral mutation rates, scientists calculate that the jump from chimpanzee to human probably happened during the late 19th or early 20th century, a time of rapid urbanisation and colonisation in equatorial Africa.

What is HIV?
A zoonosis is an infection or infectious disease that is transmissible from vertebrate animals to people. The best accepted theory about the origin of HIV is that it is a descendant of a closely related virus, simian immunodeficiency virus SIV , which infects monkeys. Researchers have known for a long time that certain viruses can pass from animals to humans, a process that is called zoonosis. HIV may have crossed over from chimpanzees as a result of a human killing a chimp and eating it for food. It appears highly likely chimpanzees were the source of HIV-1, and that the virus at some point crossed species from chimpanzees to humans.
